Postcards from the Edge

Carrie Fisher inspired me with her incredibly riveting and comedic novel many many years ago: Postcards from the Edge. The movie wasn’t great, but her writing forever changed my writing and made me realize it’s alright to write about things that haunt, move and influence me. I always wanted to write with the incredible wit she seemed to relate so easily. I thank her for making it cool to be a girl playing with the boys at an early age – as I was the only girl, surrounded by 9 boy neighbours – I was always Princess Leia, in the 70s, because as kids we reenacted the movies and Leia was a great part to play, but I will miss her humour most of all. 2016 in many ways you have taken much of the best of us, so I hope you have given us a new “best” in those who were born throughout this crazy year.
